MERA LUNA FESTIVAL

we went to the "Mera Luna Festival" on this tour. just for fun, not to play. it was incredible. The Mera Luna is a massive gothic music festival in Germany, boasting bands like "tool" and "skinny puppy". in an endless sea of black, we were exposed to a wide array of people expressing themselves in many different and interesting ways. the atmosphere was so great and everyone was very friendly. we learned a great deal about the many uses of leather and other things that tie you up. "whip, crack!". one of the best, most educational days of the tour, hands down.

on a side note: we also played another festival on this tour that's main purpose was to promote love and art and an all around feeling of acceptance, equality and community. i hate to say it, but we never met more assholes than we met here. seriously. the vibe of Mera Luna was all of the things that this festival boasted to be, and this other one was all of the things that a lot of people who are idiots might assume about gothic music crowds. my point is a) don't judge a book by it's cover, and b) if it looks like cotton candy, it isn't always cotton candy.

A FEW FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

we have been playing festivals all summer long in Germany, Austria and Spain. below are just a few highlights:

- The Films + Matzi, our tour manager. she is completely amazing and we'd be lost without her. we love her very very much.

- The Films hating the rain, but loving the mud

- The Films playing longer than 30 minutes!

- The Films bringing back 'the stage dive'

- The Films learn during a signing how to spell many german youth's names
- The Films learn during a signing that when many german youth's tell you their name is spelled with the long "E", they mean the long "I"

A SPECIAL NOTE FROM soundMAN COREY BOCK

in defense to a myspace message we received criticizing him on his skillz 'at this one show'... corey calmly and without apology replies:

"Venues with large stages (wider than about 50 feet) present a problem for audience members in the first few rows. People in these seats won't hear vocals from the P.A. because they're too close to the stage and the P.A. is throwing sound to areas behind them. Sometimes the monitors spill vocals into the audience, but this may not be enough, and if the entire band is using personal monitors, then there will be no spill of any sort from monitors into the audience."

he's right folks.. if you want to smell the band you will have to sacrifice a little sound quality. we think it's a fair trade.
